E-Bikes for Business

From cycle to work schemes, to bike leasing, and cargo bikes for last mile delivery – we can provide you with all sorts of sustainable business bike solutions.

Cycle to Work

These government initiatives allow your employees to get a brand new bike (and accessories) tax free. All with the aim of encouraging more people to start cycling to work.

Offering this eco-friendly work benefit can help you tick boxes for both Environmental and Social aspects of your company’s ESG goals.

Ribble Valley E-Bikes makes the process simple and straightforward, representing all of the main scheme providers, including Cyclescheme; Bike2Work; GCI; and Cycle2Work (Halfords).

There’s no cost to you, and minimal admin set up (this is handled by the scheme providers).

Offering tax-free bikes to employees is a great company benefit AND it creates a positive brand image – appealing to ethically minded customers.

How does it work?

The e-bike is leased by the company, with the cost deducted from the employee’s gross salary. The employee then pays tax and National Insurance (NIC) based on the revised salary – reducing the amount of income tax and NIC they pay.

Employers benefit from reduced Class 1 NIC payable on the employee’s salary, which more than covers the cost of the interest charged on the lease.

Riders get a new bike every two years, with no deposit required and no need to sell their current bike. The monthly fee includes cycle insurance and servicing at one of the scheme’s regional service centres. (Ideally Ribble valley E-Bikes but that’s up to you!)

Cycle accessories like helmets, locks and waterproofs can be included within the lease (up to 20% of the total value) and there’s an option to trade up to a new bike after just a year.

E-Bikes for Employees

You could save a fortune on your dream bike through one of our cycle-to-work schemes. And you don’t even need to cycle to work every day!

We’re very proud to be part of Cyclescheme as well as the Haibike and Raleigh Electric Bike Access scheme.

These government initiatives allow you to get a brand new bike (and accessories) tax free. All with the aim of encouraging more people to start cycling to work.

Administered through your employer, we are pleased to represent all of the main scheme providers, including Cyclescheme; Bike2Work; GCI; and Cycle2Work (Halfords).

But don’t worry, you’re allowed to use your bike for fun as well as work.

According to Cyclescheme: “At least 50% of the bike and/or accessories use should be for work purposes. For example, if you used the bike 10 times in a year, at least 5 of those journeys must be work related. The bike and accessories can also be used for non-work purposes.”

Because the money for the bike is taken in instalments from your salary before tax, you benefit from significant savings. And even more good news? – There used to be a £1000 spend cap, but now there’s no set limit.

What’s in it for you?

There’s lots of information clearly laid out on the Cycle To Work scheme website.

*Basic rate tax payers saving is 30%. 42% for higher rate taxpayers. Up to 47% is possible for higher earners.

Cut your company’s carbon footprint

cargo bikes

Offering company bikes can significantly reduce a company’s carbon footprint, as more employees opt to cycle to work. Employers can provide high-quality e-bikes as a sustainable alternative to company cars, and since the scheme can also cover cargo bikes, it offers a greener solution for urban and last-mile deliveries to customers, lowering emissions further.

Promote employee wellbeing at work

velo de ville

Studies from Denmark indicate that employees who cycle to work tend to be healthier, happier, and take fewer sick days than their peers. This presents an opportunity for employers to offer company bikes to all employees, not just those eligible for company cars. Providing access to bikes encourages staff to stay active on their commute and even on weekends, promoting overall wellbeing!
